Funeral Poem

Funeral Poem – Bereavement Poems

Poem for my Grandfather funeral

You will always be in my heart!

Sometimes I wish I embraced you
And never let your smile pass by
But you are gone; I can’t change that
No matter how much I sulk and cry
I want you to laugh as on earth
And light up the dark evening sky
And remember that you’re loved dearly
I will not let our memories pass by
The distance between us is no object
Because you will always be in my heart
And no element that exists on earth
Will tear our fragile souls apart
I am sorry I can no longer hold you
And things will never be the same
But the sun will rise, and the birds will sing
At the very sound of  your name

  2. I liked this one, Marilena. You wrapped up the sorrow nicely.

But the title caused me to pause at the word “lie” because it can also mean to deceive. It sounds a little like an accusation.

(Perhaps “dwell” or just “be” might have been a better choice?)

    Hiii,

I particularly love the lines –

The distance between us is no object
Because you will always be in my heart,
And no element that exists on earth
Will tear our fragile souls apart

Really portrays the concept of undying love! Also, the last 2 lines – really sweet, made me smile! X

As we go back and look at time long gone
we feel the memory deep within our soul
stirring up times we feared or held dear
yet to write about new things to come
how can we tell our feelings to another
for tomorrow has no feelings of its own
