Doll Poems
A living doll that wants to live
This poem I wrote is imagining that the toy dolls we have are actually alive. Also how our behaviour towards them would change if they had felt like us. I hope you like my poem! π
Notice that it’s alive
It breathes silently through the day
In one place it must always stay
It sees and feels and it can hear
Lives its life in the darkness of fear
Scared that one day theyβll make it fall
And will forget to pick it up at all
Or get bored of it in the room
Then throw it away very soon
It just wants a chance to talk
Runaway or even try to walk
It wants to drive a car, climb a tree
The opportunity to be free
Its life is just a fight to survive
It wants them to notice its alive
And a little respect they can give
Because itβs a living doll that wants to live!

Dolls for the girls
The care free world they live in
The dolls live it up
Beautifully display wanting to enjoy
The world in its eyes
Opening wide hoping for miracle
Or it becomes Chuck
The evil ducks quack
The subtle messages
Crafted on the doll routines
When the dolls can talk
The world may live differently
In the closet the dolls speak
We never are bored, we make a child happy
In the day the dolls in play
The children gathered speak a language
You have good imagination
Live it up as life takes you along

oh my doll was like my friend when i was small. i even used to shampoo her hair, put make up on (with magic colors) and even gave her a hair cut! haha, until one day, a friend told me that they’ll wake up in the middle of the night (like the nutcracker) and i got really scared and chucked them aside since then. hehe.
sweet poem, in any case! x

Even a doll can a subject of a poem, i didnt knew. Emotions beautifully conveyed.
Hi there,
Thanks so much for visiting my blog “How I Wonder” and leaving a comment. Please do visit again.
A lovely poem here. It comes to show that imaginations have no limitations. Even the improbable can be so beautifully described. But then, such are the minds of the artists — they think the unthinkable or something that people avoid thinking. Nice work!

an amazing poem, well done marinela.I love this poem and the way you’ve given life to the doll.
My dolls were always alive to me when I was a child. No flinging them in a corner for me. Always tucked lovingly into their little doll beds.
Wow!!! U r awesome…..wot a poem full of emotions. I really liked it.
Lovely poem, I have to admit these porcelaine dolls tend to freak me out a little bit! They can be so life like it’s as if they’re going to move, and I’m a fan of Stephen King’s the Tommyknockers, and if you’ve seen that then you’ll probably know why I’m a little apprehensive! Going to read some more poems now I enjoyed that very much!
Lovely, I wrote a song for Cliff Richard once, I know he’d love this too!
I loved it!

a very nice poem…i wonder what it would be like to live as a doll, knowing one day you would be discarded….
Thanks everyone,
Yes i would hate to live as a doll π It would be so scary knowing that one day they will just throw you away!
My sister is afraid of dolls too, she thinks that they stare at her!

Oh, how we loved our dolls when we were little and wished they were alive! Great poem. Lovely perspective. I enjoyed this.
I wonder what they see day after day when they sit there on the shelf, loved for a time and then forgotten. Lovely poem π

How interesting.
I remember seeing, many years ago, the Twilight Zone episode about the doll! Your poem is really very unique and very interesting!
Thank you for the visit to my poetry blog … sadly my Mother passed away three months after I wrote that poem. I wrote many poems during the five years I cared for her.
I too was looking for the Magpie Tale? however, I was not disappointed. Your poetry ( I read several — reads as coming from someone who has a depth and maturity, I was surprised you were so much more youthful. I though if she is writing this good now well then what will her poetry be like in a few years… probably pretty amazing.
Love your style,,, pretty awesome reads. Thanks . Not many people know what Shim Sham Shimmy stands for… a jazz tap dance style …

I clearly remember feeling like this about my dolls as a child. I’m sure it’s why I turned into such a squirrel, hoarding all kinds of rubbish. I couldn’t bear the thought of those dolls, stuffed toys or little plastic animals being thrown out, helpless, but aware.
I used to draw food for the animals I doodled, too!
Found you site today for ABC Wed. Very nice poem, and you layout is very attractive with the notebook.
WOW, thank you everyone! It is so nice to know that so many people like my poetry and my page! I am glad that you like the idea of a living doll!

I know such dolls. I was one once. Beautifully done.
Every time I read the Velveteen Rabbit, I cry, every single time. Those childhood objects have so many beautiful memories associated with them. For some of us they were the comfort our family could not provide.
Very lovely and creative poem.
Happy Sunday!
Thank you everyone for the lovely comments!
You encourage me to write more and more!
It always makes my day knowing that all of you are interested in and like my poetry!
