Remembrance Day Poems – War Poems
Soldier
A soldier stood glancing at the dead
He felt so pensive and bowed his head
Blood and gore painted the ground
Tall men stood in melancholy and made no sound
Trying to stand brave, he wiped his tear
A British soldier must be strong and show no fear
A glorious victory but many soldiers lying sore
May they rest in peace, for them, there is no more war
With his hand on his heart, he turned to leave
And whipped the rain from his skin with his sleeve
He was content, he and his country were free
That’s when he thought, when will the next war be?

Well written poem, Marinela. The subject is so sad and so difficult to deal with.
Have a nice weekend!
Beautiful ….. a wonderful tribute.
Marinela, its lovely to see someone using the power of words to remember those fallen soldiers, and to appreciate what people going to war are prepared to sacrifice for our freedom.. then you turn the TV on to find out that someone has been stealing poppy collection boxes in the UK !!! what is the world coming to.. very sad.. sad indeed..
Very wise words and beautifully written.
Thank you for sharing.
