Couplet Poems

Couplet Poems

Couplet poems are very easy to write and great fun to read. They are made up of two lines that must rhyme. They can be of any subject so there is no limit on what you can write them about. There is not a set amount of syllables needed for couplet poems. It is suitable for any age, especially young children. It would be great if everyone has a go at writing their own couplet poems. Here are some of my own; I hope you enjoy reading them 🙂

Your eyes

Just like the summer skies
There is beauty in your eyes

Joy

When joy flows all within me
I know this was meant to be

Appreciate

You should appreciate and not complain
Because all it does is cause more pain

Nature

In winter nature falls into a deep sleep
Then wakes up in spring, beautiful and neat

Harvest

When harvest comes the crops are full
Winter then interferes to keep them cool

Love your flows

Learn to love your dark side
soon it will be your guide

Be positive

Let go of thoughts that make you sad
because you need to be happy and glad

What a neat poetic form! I’ve always been a bit of a haiku freak – often stuffing them into 140-character tweets while I walk the dog. But this? This is a neat new opportunity!

its very well done… I loved all of them….

Just to give you some back ground on this kind of couplet, it was also a very famous form of poetry done by the sufi and mystic saints like Kabir and Surdas… from India…

Being a former literature teacher, I think your post reminds me of an excellent lesson plan that both explains and motivates—plus, your couplets do not waste words and illustrate titles/concepts well in 2 lines.
    Also, sincere thanks 🙂

    Marinela,
__I am honored by your visit to my blog, and by your welcomed comment.

__I’ve noticed your birthday… mine was in 1943, and I too… have written since I was very young.
__Short stories, opinionated essays, views of nature, and what some people call poetry, [I’ve never spoken of myself as a poet] and I’ve considered all that I have written… my ‘Daily Therapy.’ I’ve made no solid effort to ‘publish’ in print and paper… though some are shown in anthologies.
__Here, I congratulate you for your early successes, and again, I thank you, Marinela; stay close to your goals! _m
