Rispetto Style

July9

A Rispetto is an Italian type of poetry. It has two stanzas that have 4 lines each. The rhyming scheme for the first stanza is abab and for the second it is ccdd. Have a go at writing one yourself! They are easy and fun to write!

Rispetto

My heart trembles when I see
you, my little cousins growing up so fast
Best friends we will always be
just like now and in the past

I can’t stop the naughty time flying
But to build a bridge of memories I’m trying
So that the connection that we have together
Will be the same now and forever

I’ve written these, but not on purpose. I mean I’ve written in the style without knowing what it was called.

Thanks for putting a name to it. I’ll have to practice some of these!

Hi Marinela .. I hadn’t heard the term Rispetto before .. but I’m sure we had it as an exercise at school .. I wasn’t so good at it then .. nor now for that matter .. loved your poem and explanation.

    Thank you – Hilary

For writing poetry of different kinds
Oh, so much I had been yearning
    From my teacher Marinela’s lines
Yes, about types of poetry I’m learning

Keep on writing, with so much to tell
At this young age you are writing so well
I will keep visiting and reading you
Hey, dear do keep on inspiring me too…

    Hello
Thank you for introducing a type of poetry
This type of four poems first and second line as you wrote some rhymes together and had separate
But my question is whether this kind of music is also a kind of poem
Will this kind of poetry only in two four-line is written or even longer to be
Different types of poetry in Persian language we just kind of a long poem that is somewhat similar to the sonnet and poem called Masnavi.
    Good luck

    Hi Marinela,
I just wrote one — at least I think it’s a valid rispetto — over at written for children. And I owe it to you that I found Monday’s Child. Thanks again!
